About Us

FROM CHAIRPERSON’S DESK

Twinkle Star Welfare Trust is an organization that intended to provide its services for the development of specially-abled children through education, training, therapies, recreation, outdoor games, etc. Our journey started in 2016 with two autistic children who have now reached 52. Our service and concerns are not only limited to education and training but also to advocacy for the rights of disabilities. To deal with the rising crime and discrimination against differently-abled persons, we organized awareness programs through workshops and seminars. We created a platform wherein concerned authorities, teachers, special educators and persons with disabilities along with their family members have the opportunity to exchange ideas and solutions.

During the lockdown period, we were fully operative through a digital platform which was neo normal way and means of providing education and support to our children. It should not be out of place to mention that our children too enjoyed communication through online classes. Also, they have participated in several competitions and were awarded based on their performance.  Several stress management sessions were held through online mode to de-stress the parental community. We also organized several cultural programs which provided a kind of motivational support to children and their parents.

EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE

Twinkle Star Welfare Trust was formed and shaped under the supervision and able guidance of Mrs. Shibani Mitra, founder, and chairperson of the trust. She has done her Post Graduation in Philosophy from Jadavpur University and has completed her Diploma in Special Education (Mental Retardation) from Manovikash Kendra under RCI. She has also done her Master’s training Program conducted by National Trust and a B.Ed in Special Education(MR) from Netaji Subhas Open University. She is also a certified Play Therapist.
